Bee Hooi Restaurant reviews
46The oyster omelette was flavourful, had a good blend of eggs and starch and the oysters were fresh to top it off. The char koey teow had fresh and large prawns with an excellent bite, however the noodles lacked wok hei. Popiah was too watery and was not worth it.
Bee Hooi Coffee Shop is one of my favorite dinner option when visiting Penang.
Already know this place for years, and glad to be back in July 2023, seeing most of the stall owner are well and survive after all the lockdown periods.
During my stay in Penang I come here every night and tried many kind of food, and it always delicious.
But my top choices always Fried Oyster and Char Hor Fun.
Fried Oyster owner is a very friendly couple, they are genuinely happy every time we meet. Especially this is my first visit after 3 years of pandemic. Very happy to see familiar friendly faces and having a chance tasting my favorite foods and also to know the quality of food is still as good as I remembered
My second choices will be Char Kweetiau and Kweetiau Soup or Prawn Mee.
If you have time you can also taste different kind of food until you find your favorite one. They have also Po Piah, Lor Mee, Satay, Thai Food etc. All food is delicious and affordable, every stall has it customers so that makes this place very crowded every night.
You should try also their ice coffee and ice tea with lemon, its really good and cheap.
Happy tummy happy me
We come a few time in evenings when eat out, always very busy I had the salted fish bee hoon something that is getting harder to find and satay skewers both okay.
I guess the best Mah chee in the town.
Thanks aunty for serving tasty Maa chee with hokien quote.
Strongly recommend.
Love to see your smile.
Ooo jian is so tempting. And char kuey tiaw not bad.
Maa chee is the best.
Message to visitors. Most of the famous stalls start their business at 4pm therefore please plan your trip to this shop.
There is a lot of good hawker food here. The char kuey teow, oh jian, and mochi is great here with reasonable price.
One of the better ones in Penang!
Food wise, generally taste above average and do consider to order muah chee and loh bak aside of the Oyster Omelette dish (possibly the best in Penang)
Worth noting is attentive service and the hawker were generally friendly/ warmth!
For the famous CKT at this place, the stall would only starts to operate around 6pm so do adjust your time accordingly if you plan to make a visit~
Definitely not the first and last visit to the place and Highly Recommended!
So many delicious stalls here n usually hard to decide what to eat. My favourite is the sa hor fun, followed by the pssembur, satay, poh piah, fried rice, western food, char koay teow and the chicken porridge. My mum was unwell so ta pau the chicken porridge with gizzard for our dinner. Yummy as always.

Came here with high expectations from the CKT, but was disappointed. Nothing special about this CKT. I have definitely tasted better ones.
The Oyster Omelette (Or Chien) was the bomb though, really nice smoky taste from the eggs. Something that cannot be found in KL and PJ. Awesome.
Satay is quite good too.
CKT 2/5
Or Chien 5/5
Satay 4/5
One of the go to kopitiam for my dinner. The char kuey teow, wantan mee, char hor fun, loh mee, loh bak and chicken porridge/rice are pretty good. The muah chee is good too, as after dinner dessert.
Char koay teow for lunch, we love that it’s not oily at all, it would be perfect if it’s abit more salty and spicy. We would recommend it to our friends and family and we definitely will come back for it.
Most of the foods are great but the place needs a good cleanup.
CKT is especially good here.
Small and limited space but great location to find authentic Penang Hawker's Food.
Notable food here are Hockkien Mee (HKM), Char Hor Fun and Or Kuih / Chai Kuih.
A legacy from the olden days. The coffee shop has been refurbished, but seating arrangements are still quite cramped.
All of the food stalls here serves authentic Penang flavours, one where its not flooded with tourist.
This coffee shop is one of the institutions in Penang - having been in the same location for about 50 years now. Located at the junction of Burmah Road and Pulau Tikus Lane, it used to be open throughout the day from the wee hours in the morning, but now it only comes alive at night for dinner.
I have dined at this same place for over 40 years now, and it has remained as popular since the early days right until now. This results in a bit of problem finding parking in the evenings, so it's better to be early, before the peak dinner crowd packs the place.
Probably one of the reasons for the success and longevity of this coffee shop is the fact that the hawkers there have not changed much through the years. They have become friends.
The same Char Koay Teow man (Ah Kow), still fries at his same spot that he did all those years ago. The wantan mee is still in the same spot. Same goes for the lor bak, poh piah, sar hor fun, lor mee, and more.
The food served here is above average and therefore makes this coffee shop a perfect stop to sample the Penang delights in one location without having to dart all over the place for the more "famous" locations.
Prices are always reasonable and you could have a satisfying meal for around RM10 per person (drinks included). I pay a visit everytime I'm back in Penang, as it's a must-go for me and the family, and am always greeted warmly.
That's the charm of this long-standing coffee shop.
Renovated recently. Tables and chairs in better shape now. Drinks are quite lousy. Food prices are slightly dearer. The char koay teow, pasembur, char horfun, oyster omelette, tomyam and fish bihun are really good.
Food was terrible and not good like last time. Maybe the popular food stalls were not available.
Many choices of hawker food. We had the chicken rice along with roasted pork & char siew, which we would rate highly.
Tempat kuliner favorit saya di Penang. Sangat cocok utk lidah org Indonesia. Menu makanan bervariasi, banyak pilihan, mulai dari sate, mie sop, ikan bakar, mie goreng, dll. Hanya buka pada waktu malam saja. Harga terjangkau
One of my favorite spot for fried oyster omellete in Penang. They also do have quite a few stalls that sells delicious items, however the main reason I visit here is for the Oh Chien and sometimes the sarhorfun too.
