Tugu Negara / National Monument reviews
50Aside from the magnificient view of KL high rise buildings, the monument itself can offer you OOTD and there is a park not far, easily the nature walk can you a sweat. Nature learning path
We always come here in the early morning, after our weekly picnic at the park beside it.
Entrance is free. My children love the vast area where they can run freely. The architecture is amazing. There is always something new that catches our eyes during each visit. Usually by 10am tourists start to arrive and the weather becomes uncomfortably hot. So don’t forget your umbrella and bottled water.
The National Monument in Kuala Lumpur depicted the glorious history of Malaysia's freedom movement against Japanese during World War II and the Malayan Emergency, which lasted from 1948 until 1960. The freedom hero (soldier) who had given their life for the country are well remembered in this monument with deep respect.
Free admission. Well-kept, clean and a spectacular photo spot. Hope all the fountains will be working soon. It is a memorable and beautiful place representing the history of Malaysia, for Malaysian people or tourist to visit.
A good place for family outing. Introduce children to the forest environment to talk about the water, air, flora and fauna. Today, I came here to listen to the talks by retired Capt. Dr. Wong Ah Peng and Datuk Paul Keong. Both gave a very good account of their occupations (army and police special branch).
For the future of Malaysia they gave their present. A fitting tribute to heros who faught n made supreme sacrifice
The monument is huge and detailed! Would be better if there are some souvenir shops opened within its compound. Place is wide and easy to get a parking spot.
It's really sad that we as Malaysians never go to this place anymore. Because I see more tourists here than locals. It's a place to show our young what the elderly has done to keep this place a peaceful place as it is now
Wajib datang melawat sekali seumur hidup. Bagi mengenang jasa mereka mununtut kemerdekaan walaupun ada yang gugur di medan pertempuran.
Dec 2021
We were lucky to had great weather. About dozens of others visitors around. Great view part of the city.
It's a great sense to be here. The show off appreciation, sacrification off all kind Race and Religion for our Country Malaysia.
Maintenance
It's time for extra detail to be done on every part.
The EMBLEM's, Lotus Flower in the water pond and plants.
Bench
It's would be to have few Benches on the side. For seniors to have little rest.
Car Park
Very disappointed, too few parking space.
Toilet
I just wonder where they are. No sign any where.
Free Wifi
It's useless. Only 1 bar. Does not work.
F&B Shops
They're were all closed. Very disappointed. No such think as appropriate service available.
The national Monument is an iconic place and a great one for photos. The statue is the main attraction of the place. There are small vendors selling their caricature drawings of the statues and self portrait if you are interested. You can visit this place as part of half day/full day tour of KL.
We went there few times. But today manage to visit the Tugu Negara. Beautiful scenery. But should keep the maintenance nicely. Place was clean but not truly attractive. For this kind of beautiful place should maintain the beauty to attract more people.
Really place of solemn. Visit this place after almost 50 years but this time came with my children.
It is a place to reflect the lives sacrificed for peace in Malaysia. A calm atmosphere surrounds the monuments. There is a cenotaph that greets visitors upon entering the site. Walking onwards, you will see a gateway with three domes obscuring the main attraction. The gateway itself is worthy of photos. Beyond the gateway, your eyes would fall on an imposing bronze statue. Larger than life, it makes you think of the patriots that have lost their lives. A moment of silence for them. The views from the large terrace is also worth some photos. Looming large is Malaysia's tallest building, the PNB118. The National Monument is a place that should be worth a visit.
Tempat bersejarah yang menarik untuk dilawati. Pihak DBKL perlu baikpulih tempat ni. Banyak component yang da lusuh Dan rosak.
Tempat sesuai dikunjungi oleh warga a.k. A rakyat Malaysia amnya.tempat kenangan untuk Perwira Negara yang didedikasikan sebagai Tugu Negara
The Malaysian National Monument or Tugu Negara is an emotive 15 metre high bronze statue on a low hill overlooking the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens (Taman Botani Perdana).
Malaysia’s first premier Tunku Abdul Rahman came up with the idea of the monument in 1963 after having seen the famous Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington County, Virginia. The American sculptor Felix de Weldon, who created the Iwo Jima Memorial, was hired to design a Malaysian version to serve as the National Monument commemorating the thousands of warriors and civilians who died defending the sovereignty of Malaysia against the Japanese occupation during World War II (1941-45) and during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960).
Belajar sejarah dan sekeliling kaw Tugu juga byak tmpt2 yg menarik yg sesuai utk beriadah bersama family.

The predecessor of the national monument is a cenotaph which was relocated to the memorial park in 1964. The national monument was completed on February 8,1966 and officially opened. The memorial park is dedicated to the 11,000 people who died during the 12-year guerrilla war "Malayan Emergency" (1948-1960). The centerpiece of the monument is a 15 meter high bronze sculpture with 7 figures. The granite base of the sculpture bears the Malay coat of arms surrounded by the inscription in different languages "Dedicated to the heroic fighters for peace and freedom May the blessings of Allah be upon them"
Being more than 20 years not pay a visit here. Indeed a must visit place if you drop by to KL. Nice place for taking photo perhaps in the morning or evening.
