Funicular Service Penang Hill

The only place in Penang where you can feel the “cool” breeze. In Penang, the sea breeze is still hot at 9 o'clock at night, but the scenery is a bonus at this time. It's really, really cool and nice.
The cable car goes up and down at a fairly fast speed, but it is not easy to get on the most fun section, number 1. It's really fun to get in the front row when going down.disadvantage:
1 If you do not purchase fast track, there is a waiting time of about 40 minutes when going down. Even if you wait, getting into the front row is purely luck. However, if you purchase the fast track ticket, you will be able to occupy the front row seat (160 ringgit per person round trip, or so. ‘Not easy’ for a family of 4)
2 I just want to go up and drink coffee and look at the scenery, there’s nothing much to do.
3 The restaurant at the top is very nicely decorated. But the bathroom is messy. (No smell, no water stains. The discoloration of the toilet is just so scary.)

When you come to Penang, u definitely must visit the Penang hill. Buy the fast lane tickets via online and is worth it. There is no point in wasting your time to queue for hours just to go up and down the hill.

Saturday 4 p.m. In January. No waiting. Too bad the wagons aren't more ventilated than that.

3 hours waiting time.so, buy tickets in advance if you decided to go there in busy period.and in my opinion they can run car at least twice frequently in such periods, but looks like they don't care ;)

You have to wait to go up and down Penang Hill, and senior citizens have to stand and wait.

My husband and me arrived at the funicular station around noon and bought the tickets to go to Penang Hill. We waited 1 hour and 30 mins to enter the cable car.
The cable car was fully packed. I wouldn't suggest going on weekends, holidays or fridays.
Also note, there are limited fast lane tickets.

Good experience unlike the cable cars - train ride was worth it.

Bit crowded - even though it was off season.

Else the ride was quick and good

Will suggest the FastLane tickets to cut the queue and make it a fast n quick ride to n fro. Worth it.

A great way to spend the afternoon, views from the top are breath taking. Lots of options for food, drinks and nature trails. Don’t forget to bring a mask to ride the funicular.

Makes for a fun and relaxing half day trip. Nice and cool weathern, absolutely stunning views and surrounded by greenery. Loads of food and rest spots, a lot of photo opportunities. You could even spend the whole day and go for the many hiking trails and walks available. Planning to come back for a full day trip next time and really explore the place. Plenty of parking on the road leading up to it, plenty of restaurants too at the entrance.

Bagi yang bawa anak kecil atau tak larat berdiri lama-lama lebih baik beli tiket fast lane. Beli tiket fast lane ada rezeki boleh duduk plg depan.

Good place to chill, relax or picnic with friends and family members. Located in the middle of tropical jungle, this place is easy to reach whether by own transport or by bus with free parking. This place actually very popular among the local people and became a very crowded especially on weekends and public holiday. What i like most is magnificent waterfall and clean water, clean surrounding and riverbanks, ample parking spaces, adequate changing rooms. It is allowed for picnic here, bring along your children and foods.

Quite expensive for a single ride down but still not crazy expensive (kl tower) amazing view and a equally amazing piece of engineering

Went on 31/12/2022. The wait was rather long, it took about 1.5 h for our turn to take the train/tram up. It was very crowded due to the new year holiday.
My previous trip many years ago, the train was non aircon. Now it's fully air-conditioned.
May have to stand on the way up (and down). It's better to either be at the 1st or last cabin for better photo or video footage.

If you like walking in the jungle and green, this is a good place for you. This place has many good scenery, especially when you are at The Habitat.

Buy ticket online. Time schedule 12.30pm. Arrive on time. Redeem ticket and yet still kena ikut no.kul 2 no panggil. Finnaly naik funikular at 3.30 pm. What to do. Bwk anak2 n anak buah. X pernah naik lagi. Hadap je le. Apa2 pun dessert kat atas puncak terbaikkkkk

Highly recommended not to visit during long weekend as the queue for funicular is ridiculously long, especially when going down hill.

Better to go here on weekday. Had tried on weekend.it was super long queu. But better during weekday. It nice experience for the first time visit here.

The waiting time for boarding was really crazy.
Bought ticket at 1130am. Boarded the funicular at 345pm.
It was year end school holiday, but the way.

The new funicular was faster now. It took about a few minutes to reach the top of Penang hill.

The view from the top of penang hill was superb. The air was fresh and cooling.

Great views but long wait to get up the funicular. Go early in the day. Found out later its cheaper and time efficient to rent a jeep and drive up. Habitat experience was fine but not amazing. Be sure to buy tickets online to save money
